(More customer reviews)These are lovely small (3mm) beads. I was astonished to see so much chatoyancy in 3mm beads. They are the genuine stone and to see the "eye" appearing in so many of the beads on the strand truly blew me away. At the price, I was not prepared for this level of quality.
The beads appear uniformly drilled and the holes are of sufficient size that a small beading needle and .7 mm silk thread moves through them with ease. There are very few beads with any obvious flaws (a couple with a flat spot if you look very, very, very closely and one that appears cloudy). Not a cracked one in the lot. The drilling is consistent and clean.
It is important to understand that the smaller the bead, the higher the probability that they won't have the characteristics that one seeks and usually finds in the larger beads and, in my experience, the more problematic they can be to work with.
This inexpensive strand turns out to be truly excellent. No, they won't jump out at you like a 10mm bead might -- with the exception of high-end gemstone beads which are typically quite spendy, opaque and even translucent stones this small tend to appear subdued until you look at them in a well-lighted location. There's a sort of ninja quality about these that is surprising, delightful and classy.
